Géza Domokos

He was born in Budapest in 1947. He graduated at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts as a painter, but later he became popular for his picture- and book- graphic works and illustrations.

His journeys in Europe take important part in his experiences in the symbolic structures of different cultural circles, which, combined with his personal mythology, became the most typical features of his art.

His works are combinations of surrealistic and realistic elements, and are inspired by literature. Important parts of his life-work are his paintings, his red chalk-drawings created by a unique technique linked to literary works at the boundary of different art forms. They are called by the artist "Multiple Reflection Novel" and are integrated in the "Universum Circus".

The manuscript is unknown by the public, but his series of pictures, which combine metaphoric graphic an typological elements, were published in Magyar Napló, Élet és Irodalom, Magyar Nemzet and Magyar Hírlap. Colours, figures, symbols, playful irony are means of delight, sensuality and intellect in his art.
