Victor Vasarely
He was born on 9th April 1906. He started his art studies in the drawing school of P.V. in 1927, and went on to study in the workshop of Sándor Bortnyik. He settled down in Paris in 1930 where he first worked in the field of poster designing. After the war he moved to Arcueil then to Annet-sur-Marne, where he lived until the end of his life. He started painting seriously in 1944. From 1955 he published his writings about the theory of art. Later he designed tapestries, shot art films. From 1960 he became well known all over the world, he is honoured as the creator of Op Art. His style has been followed by many artists, he started a new school. At the peak of his carrier, more museums were founded for him: in Gardes and Aix-en Provance in France, in Pécs and Budapest in Hungary. In Oslo and in New York, where his permanent exhibition is called Vasarelly Center. He received several high awords, gold medals at exhibitions and the Grand Price. He is an honourary citizen of New Orleans, Villeparisis, Pécs, Aix-en Provance. A honourary doctor at the University of Cleveland, Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in France. He had a French and Hungarian citizenship.

We can find details about the beginings of his career in Hungary and his views until the 50s. His axonometric structural composition appeared between 1930 and 1938 his. He divided his art in different periods: Between 1930 and 1947 he called his paintings "Wrong Ways". The round and elliptic forms which reminds us to pebbles washed by the sea were called "Belle Isle" The linear structures are called "Black and White" (1951-1963) and "Line Period" (1966-1976).

The Vega groups: embossed works or withdrawing into depth, perspective effects (Vega Chess). His principle is that colour and shape are equal qualities. These together are the statuesque unity, from which he created his colour and shape ABC. He recognized the value in duplications, denied the privilege of unique, individual works. His colourful town views have materialized in buildings and as public statues all over the world.
